GVS REFRESHES NURSERY STAFF AT HISTORICAL
TANGMERE AIRFIELD SITE
Specialist supplier of vending equipment and maintenance GVS has created a partnership with Tangmere Nurseries, a leading European grower of sweet peppers and supplier to major UK supermarkets based on a World War Two airfield near Chichester in Sussex, by providing them with a range of machines to provide hot and cold drinks, snacks and food items to their 200 strong staff.
The three N&W Astro drinks machines vended almost 32,000 drinks in the six weeks following installation, which increased following the addition of multi-lingual labels to ensure all staff could understand the comprehensive drinks menu. Banked in the staff canteen alongside the drinks machines are an N&W Snakky snack, can and bottle machine and a Starfood carousel food machine.
“We recommended N&W equipment for the Tangmere site because of its simplicity of operation and its interior colour coding to make cleaning and filling as simple as possible for the on-site staff,” commented GVS Regional Sales Manager Rod Goodyear. The drinks are offered on a free-vend basis, with a small charge being made for the snacks and food items. According to Tangmere Director, Keith Tiffany, the most popular items with the 210 employees so far have been hot chocolate and Russian Salad.
Tangmere Nurseries chose GVS because of its independence from contract caterers to ensure that they were free to select exactly which products were put through the machines and set their own prices, with no mark-up
on food products. They were also impressed by the standards of after-sales service provided by GVS’s Service Control Call Centre and Help Desk, which can resolve simple problems over the phone without the need for an engineer visit, and the impressive response times of its Service Engineers.
“We have been very pleased with the machines so far,” commented Keith Tiffany. “The GVS local Service Engineer has been excellent in sorting out a few teething problems for us. The snack machine has been very popular but we are still experimenting with the products we put through the food machine to get the mix right for the staff. Overall, the response to all of the machines has been great.”
