GVS NEW HOT DRINKS OFFER AT
GLOUCESTERSHIRE ROYAL HOSPITAL RESULTS IN
HEALTHY RETURNS!

GVS has a strong relationship with Gloucestershire Royal Hospital and has been working with them for a considerable number of years. When they decided they wanted to upgrade the coffee offering in their Fosters Restaurant to ‘high street coffee shop’ quality, GVS teamed up with Kenco and specialist housing supplier Nebrak to provide a bespoke solution to provide excellent quality drinks from a stylish focal point within the restaurant.
It was decided to split the area into two distinct sections to reduce queuing and congestion; one side for tea and one for coffee. GVS supplied two Kenco Impresso Duo machines through its OGCbuying.solutions contract allowing the Hospital to offer a variety of both instant and bean to cup coffee and chocolate based drinks. Instant and bean to cup drinks can be dispensed simultaneously from the Duo allowing customers to select their drinks quickly. For the tea area, two Kenco Singles machines provide both traditional tea varieties as well as fruit and herbal blends to meet emerging hot beverage trends. Takeaway trade from the restaurant has been increasing steadily and a lot of time was spent finding the most appropriate disposable cup to ensure a pleasant drinking experience and to maximise safety.
The Hospital had a wide range of requirements for the new area. Colour, lighting, layout, signage, working height, safety, security, ease of cleaning, storage capacity and cup dispensing were all important considerations. Nebrak designed the sleek, modern bespoke housing and Kenco provided a variety of point of sale material including signage and menu cards to complete the stylish look of the area.
From the outset staff and patients alike were impressed by the new hot drinks area, which has been praised for the stylish design and the increased range of drinks as well as the quality.
“We recognised that our customers are now expecting to have a choice of high quality beverages and we are delighted with the new area. Sales since the launch have shown that one third of customers purchasing a hot beverage now trade up to a bean to cup drink from the new Impresso Duo machines,” commented Caroline Darvill, Assistant General Manager Catering for the Gloucestershire NHS Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
